It’s Friday!

Standard

Hello good people, the new day is upon us and the birds are chirping…OK enough of that mushy stuff. It is Friday here in America and it means for many of us the weekend is here. Its amazing how fast Friday can get here sometimes but others it can’t get here fast enough. Today is payday so I am jazzed about that.

Lets finish strong and do good things today. Whatever you are doing today make it…

My Experiment With WordPress

Standard

I am experimenting with WordPress the popular blogging platform. My reason for doing so is to see how it works as a social blogging system. I will share my findings with you and let you know what my experience is. Some day we might have to migrate there because Tumblr could radically be different because of Yahoo. My advice is to open a blog there and test it for yourself. Stay tuned for more information.

My Blog, Exclusively At Tumblr

Standard

I have been with Tumblr for a few years and I have a good audience of fellow bloggers here. I feel I can express myself adequately here and I think it keeps things simple when there is one place to find me. Recently I bought a custom domain name and linked it to this blog so I have simplified how folks from all over can connect to me.

With millions of users around the world Tumblr is the place to be. Others use Tumblr as a supplement to their online lives and that’s fine. WordPress and Blogger are good places too but I think the Tumblr platform is where smart, creative, unique and real people can share things they are doing. Individuals can also connect with others experiencing the same journey in life.

I see writers flocking here because they can inspire and get inspired to do amazing work. You also see photographers, musicians and other artists sharing what they do best here.

So you will find me exclusively blogging on this crazy site called Tumblr and if you follow me on Facebook and Twitter you can see links of my posts here. Thank you to all who read my posts and don’t think I am a total bore. Keep on blogging friends.

Writing For The Social Masses

Standard

I wonder if social media, texting and other forms of electronic communications have impacted our writing quality? It seems like it to me because of the shorthand and abbreviations that are used. We write for short lengths and have to get our point across sooner or else we lose the attention of our audience. We are writing more for the social masses which means we sometimes forget what we learned in our writing classes. What is your experience with this?

My Words

Standard

I am just a hack who plays with words sometimes. There are far better writers, poets, composers of the written word than I am. Sometimes I am not even sure if I am doing it right. Thanks for liking my stuff but being in the company of some of you is very humbling.

Generational

Standard

It’s interesting to hear what people of another generation think and say about things today. Their experiences and understanding of the world is very different than mine. Sometimes its easy to scoff at them for not knowing what the latest thing is but sometimes its nice to be rooted in lasting things. However to remain relevant and in tune with our current life it requires educating yourself and being aware of what’s going on in the here and now. It sometimes comes down to being yourself and being comfortable in that.

Blogger or Writer

Standard

Is there a difference between writers and bloggers, I don’t know. Perhaps its the content and the stories they are telling. Short form posts vs. long form works I guess could be how you tell one from another. When you see a post are there images, sounds, video involved?

I guess you could ask the individual what is their focus and what is inspiring them to do what they do. Are they wanting to take us on a journey or perhaps to paint a picture using words or perhaps is their work to be a chronological snapshot of an event or a thought that randomly popped in their heads.

Maybe its about curating things that have meaning and inspire someone to dream and imagine. I think no matter if you are just a blogger or just a writer you are responsible for creating something new, to be original, to inspire others who need it. Each creation is a personal reflection and a perspective only you have.

I think words matter, I think pictures and video can sometimes tell the story and perhaps a song is all you need to tell others how you feel.

So which one are you, are you both?
