The Younger Me

Standard

Fellow blogger manifestationofgrace asks this question…

If you had the chance to provide your younger self with advice. What would it be?

I would probably say try to do better in math. So much of what you will do in the future depends on it. Don’t worry about trying to be popular, it is fleeting. Embrace those like you and show love to those who don’t get much. Be yourself and try to work on figuring out who that is. Don’t have any regrets. Don’t worry about not having a girlfriend (that is easier said than done as a teenager).

As a 45 year old dude I have lived a little and I have found that I can’t cry over what did or didn’t happen. Of course you wish for things to have been a little easier but it has made me the person I am today. As queen Elsa in the movie “Frozen” said “Let It Go” because you have your current life to lead. My wife keeps reminding me that I can’t remain hung up on what I didn’t have as a kid and a teen.

We Are Young

“We Are Young”….Pat Benetar

Last night as my wife and I were heading home from the movie we came across some ladies who were on their way to see “Endless Love”. These good people didn’t know there was an original version that was made years ago starring Brooke Shields. I automatically felt old.

I get the same way when I say “back in my day” or “when I was your age”. You know I really try to bridge the generational gap with anyone I know. I think we all have struggles and issues that are timeless. Perhaps being open minded with people who are younger than ourselves can build friendships that can have benefits to everyone.

Age can be a unnecessary barrier to a lot of things in this life. Maybe if we got to know each other as people first that would solve a lot of problems. There are many younger people who know more about things I don’t have experience with.

Pablo Picasso once said that “Youth has no age”….perhaps we can all be young in body, spirit and wisdom.

Be Young, Do Good

Standard

To my younger folks. When you are 19-26 it’s a time to begin your lives and enjoy the journey. Go to college or trade school, get a job and do something with your life that means something. Do good things that can change the world for the better. Be a dreamer then a doer. Resist hating people, be moderate in your politics. The most important thing you can do is love one another and wage peace. Share positive things. Lets have a brighter future than our present. Know that God loves you.

To The Younger Bloggers Out There….

I appreciate the younger bloggers I am connected to here on Tumblr. They are helping me keep relevant. They see things from a unique perspective in which they are coming of age in a interesting time in history, well most times of history were interesting. They have Tumblr, Twitter, Texting and Facebook to keep connected. Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga along with others are on their personal music players. Most of them are millennials who are facing their own challenges in life and seek to express themselves in many ways. It’s my hope they will seek to be kind to one another. Understanding people of all ages will make you more mature, well rounded and caring I think.
