‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2014: Season 18 Celebrity Cast Announced – Yahoo

“Dancing With The Stars” returns for its 18th season and the new crop of celebrity competitors may be the fiercest yet.

DWTS needs to find its way again. NBC’s “The Voice” is killing it in the ratings. Perhaps they are trying too hard or maybe cut back to one dancing cycle each TV season instead of two. This lineup is OK in some places but meh in others, I guess it’s who you ask. The show has already made changes in the band and has a new co-host in Erin Andrews. Lets see how this all shakes out.

Dick Clark – His Heir Apparent By Committee

Dick Clark was a legend. He cannot be replaced. However there are some great hosts on TV right now who can by committee do the things that Dick Clark pioneered such as variety shows and his flagship program “American Bandstand”

Ryan Seacrest – is the heir apparent to much of what Dick Clark did. New Years Rockin Eve stands out. He is also introducing new artists to the American music scene as host of “American Idol” and E! News and Awards telecasts.

Carson Daly – The former host of MTV’s “Total Request Live” was Dick Clark like to a generation of music fans. He currently has a show on NBC and is the host of “The Voice"

Tom Bergeron – Has been a fixture on Fox, FX and now ABC. He is host of "Dancing With The Stars” and “America’s Funniest Videos"

Nick Cannon – Who is host of "America’s Got Talent” has been a fixture on TV for a couple of years and is a rising talent.

It will be interesting to see who will be in the booth on ABC on New Years Eve for Rockin Eve…will it be the same or different. Will Seacrest be host considering his recent deal with NBC-Universal. We will have to stay tuned.
