Today is the 11th month, 12 day, 13th year which is kind of cool, here in the USA that is. In other parts of the world it doesn’t work so well, it would be the 12th day, 11th month, 13th year. Anyway, I have read a lot of people are trying to get married today because of the date, kind of hard to forget your anniversary that way. It’s cool when dates line up this way. Next year it’s going to be 12-13-14 (December 13, 2014). On days like this you get to have fun with numbers.

Reconnecting With Others, Yourself

Generosity doesn’t have to mean giving over your treasure, it can be better than that. It means being open and available to spend time with others. Time is as much a currency as money.

Now, I am not saying you should give up your entire life to come to others needs, you can get taken for granted. What I am talking about here is spending quality time with the people in your lives.

Our schedules have us running full speed and there is not a lot of time to reconnect with family and friends. It used to be that before life got crazy we would visit with our neighbors on a front porch or go to the park and meet new people.

This also means being intentional about how you visit. Inviting people into your home is always fun or meeting them at a coffee shop or park. It’s amazing what being community can do for you. 

Finding time for visiting and in-person socialization would restore our connection to ourselves. We’ve allowed Facebook and other social media to be the place where we visit most. Making ourselves available and getting out is hard sometimes but if we do it we can rediscover what it is to be human and not a machine. 

Summer Is Almost Over

Can you believe that Summer 2013 is almost done. School is back in session for many. Some folks are taking last minute vacation opportunities. Football season is here too with high school games being played last night. Where did the time go, seriously? Fall is drawing close if you can believe that and that is a subject for another blog post.

Time, It’s Ticking!

Today is July 8th and time keeps on ticking into the future as the song says. Its flying by fast. Before you know it kids will be going back to school. Fall weather will be upon us. The holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah will be in our minds and in the stores. I don’t want to wish our time away but slowing things down a bit wouldn’t be a bad idea. It seems we already have time travel its just living.
