How come in movies like The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies the bad guys army is so much bigger than the good guys? It seems almost cliche to me. The Orcs in this movie outnumber everyone 2 or 3 to 1 and it doesn’t seem fair. As my wife observes everyone loves a underdog. However in these movies the underdog has to fight twice as hard and there isn’t always a happy ending.
Something Retro, Something Blue – I am not talking about the TARDIS from Doctor Who, although it could apply here. In this case I am talking about my blog which now sports the Redux theme that was the long time default theme for new Tumblr users.
I am using a blue scheme for the text and background while implimenting a “typewriter” style typeface. I increased the font sizes on the main body and on the sidebar. The sidebar features icons to my other social sites and a Twitter widget. I removed the stock Twitter feed because it doesn’t work well and looked ugly if you ask me. There are also links to pages and other content on the blog too. I still have some further tweaking to do but this should serve me well for awhile.
Retro still gets the job done if you ask me. Keep on blogging my good people. Make blogging fun again!
Redux, A ClassicStandard
I am now using the Tumblr classic Redux theme on my blog. It is clean layout that you can customize to your liking with some knowledge of .css style sheets. There’s nothing over the top fancy about it but perhaps ones message is the thing that should stand out, right?
Yet A New Theme, Again!
I made another change to my blog with a new theme. I am now using Beaded Bright which you can find in the Themes section.
This one allows me to display my Flickr pictures on the right sidebar along with my Instagram pix and Twitter feed. It’s a nice, bold look that is easy to navigate. There are a lot of cool features here too. I like how I can change the colors to suit me.
Tell me what you think. Can you read and navigate easily? Your input is appreciated.
Contemplating Some Change To My BlogStandard
I might be looking at changing my blogs theme. My current theme is serving me well but I think I am ready for a new look. A change in anything can be good and the look of your blog is no different.
Themes, Choose WiselyStandard
If your blog has a good number of text posts, like mine, be sure you chose a theme that can be easily read by your followers. Be sure to use solid colors that displays text at its best. If you can adjust the text to be at least 12 point type then it will have a good balance. The background is important too and it shouldn’t clash with your text.
Ultimately its your choice as to what theme you want. Remember your reader in whatever selection you make. Also be sure your pictures can work well with your text if you want to tell your story in its full effect. Be creative, keep on blogging and be the star of your own blog.
Modifying Tumblr ThemesStandard
I know just enough HTML and CSS to be dangerous, meaning I could make a page great or mess it up big time. Today I added a “Share” button from Add This on the most commonly used Tumblr theme “Redux”. Tweaking anything web related should be done with great care. Following directions is important but sometimes you can have a happy accident that can make something look and work great but then again it could come crashing down all around you. I also tweaked the font colors to all black with the exception of the accents which I have left alone.
I am happy with the results. Having a blog that’s easy to use and easy to read can create a greater experience for everyone. Making it a blog functional but not bloated can bring users back for repeat visits.
So, I will be locked down for awhile, however with all the themes that Tumblr offers and with new ones being added all the time change is very possible and easy.
