It’s Friday! Summer’s Coming To An End.

Hello friends, how is everyone on this last Friday of August. I had a great birthday but the game I went to last night didn’t turn out like I wanted. Its all good though. We are heading into a 3 day weekend for many with Labor Day coming on Monday. Whatever you do this final Summer weekend make it great. Keep on blogging of course!

Summer Is Almost Over

Can you believe that Summer 2013 is almost done. School is back in session for many. Some folks are taking last minute vacation opportunities. Football season is here too with high school games being played last night. Where did the time go, seriously? Fall is drawing close if you can believe that and that is a subject for another blog post.

Happy Labor Day, Farewell To Summer

Its one of those crossroads sort of days. We usher in Fall 2012 while sending Summer 2012 into history. Labor Day meant the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and looking at going back to school the next day.

This past Summer featured Riverbend Festival, a wedding, my dad’s 65th birthday, movies and more. The weather at times made it too hot to be outdoors.

For those who are working this day is a welcome rest but for me it seems like another day having not worked since March. I am ready to go back to work. My endless Summer is ready to come to a close.

The fall will be full of football games, cool days and nights, sweaters and hot drinks. Natures colors change into hues of browns, oranges, yellows and gold. Halloween is the prime holiday and that means tricks and treats. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Before you know it you will see Thanksgiving and the ringing of Christmas sleigh bells.

Life is about transition, seasons and change. Its going to be fun though.

Stay Cool During The Summer Heat

Temperatures here in the Chattanooga area are going to be close to or above the 100 degree mark. Its important to stay cool during these days. Here are a few tips to stay cool.

Hydration – Drink water or sports drinks, avoid caffeine.

Wear loose fitting clothes with light colors.

Cotton fibers will breathe unlike synthetic.

Use ceiling or box fans to circulate air.

Eat lighter meals that can cool you down.

Take frequent baths or showers with cool or tepid water.

If you don’t have air conditioning arrange to spend time at a public library, theatre, shopping mall or other public place.

Stay indoors if you can and in the shade. Avoid direct sunlight.

Summer Is Coming Tonight – The season officially begins at 7:09 PM this evening. It has felt like summer for a couple of weeks now. The weather has been hot and humid. Unofficially Summer starts on Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy the season everyone.

Keeping Cool When There’s No AC

When you don’t have air conditioning you do what you can to stay cool. Our house has ceiling fans in the living room and our bedroom, that will keep us cool during the night. The temperature hopefully will dip below 70 to help. Keeping hydrated is good too. We are enjoying some ice cream too. Of course keeping lights off to reduce heat is ideal. You have to be creative to keep cool.

Welcome June 2012

Today is June 1, 2012 and its hard to believe that we are at the midway point of the year. My wife and I celebrate another year of being together as a couple. Fun stuff is happening this month with Chattanooga’s Riverbend Festival taking place at Ross’ Landing on the Tennessee River. The Girl Scouts are having a special event this weekend called Bridgefest that involves a festival and an evening with the Chattanooga Lookouts. At the end of the month we are celebrating my dad’s birthday (which is on July 1). I hope to go back to work this month too, I am ready. Well with the beginning of any month we have the real possibility of interesting things happening. Enjoy the mystery!
