Graduation Day – Twenty years ago I was on the floor of Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University preparing to receive my bachelors of science degree. That was a day I never thought would ever happen for me. I wasn’t the best student as a kid but I seemed to flourish in college. I am very proud to be a Blue Raider and before that a Hiwassee College Tiger. Congratulations to students everywhere graduating today and in the coming days.

Many college students are taking their fall finals at this time and I hope the very best for them as they prepare to take those exams. I remember those days very well.
I graduated in the Spring from Hiwassee College in 1992 with an associates degree. In the Fall of 1994 I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with my bachelors. So I have done both major seasonal graduations. I kind of like fall better.
So to all those preparing for a next semester or the next chapter of your lives may you have peace and grace for the days to come.. God bless.
Return To Class
When I was a kid I started school after Labor Day. These days some kids start back before August. Classes are starting back earlier and earlier these days. The challenges our teachers and students face are tougher and they have to be smarter. Our world has changed and the lessons they need to learn are important to their success.
Every student, every teacher, every parent has a lot riding on our schools and they need our support. New teachers are coming in as old teachers are retiring and the standards that need to be met are higher. Elementary, middle and high schools along with colleges need to be safe and secure places of learning too. As school starts back lets keep everyone involved in our thoughts and prayers. They need it now, more than ever.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for parents, the kids, not so much. It’s hard to believe that its school time for many kids around the country. It just seems like Summer started yesterday.
In colleges and universities all over the nation students walked the aisle to receive their degrees. Graduation day is a transition from your life as a student to one of a person finding their way in the world. Congratulations to all who picked up their sheepskin of all degrees.
May God bless your future endeavors.
To my friends who are students I am thrilled for you that the semester/term is coming to a close. Now its time to let your hair down (unless you are bald then its all gone) and have some fun. You deserve some much needed time to relax and enjoy the holidays. I hope you did well and that your grades will be awesome.
To all those going through finals and wrapping up the school term you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have been down that road too and it isn’t easy. Your break is coming, hang in there. Finish strong!
For those in the midst of mid-terms and working toward their masters degree I salute you. Work hard and take care of yourselves. School is important! God bless.
All over the country college students are enduring the ritual of finals. Its a time for high stress, lack of sleep, disrupted schedules and more. Some are contemplating next year while others are leaving school for the real world. Don’t freak out, study smart, breathe and get rest when you can. I hope all those going through this will do great and when its all done may you find relief. God bless you all as you wrap up the year.
Friends as you close out the current term I hope you will all finish strong and do well on your finals. Take care of yourselves the best you can and know there is light at the end of the tunnel. God bless you all.
