Huey Lewis and The News put out a record (as we called them back in the day) called Sports. It was their third album and the one that made them global superstars. It was loaded with hits. “Heart and Soul”, “The Heart of Rock and Roll”, “I Want A New Drug”, “If This Is It” are all awesome songs that have stood the test of time.
It was a Billboard number one record and went platinum 7 times. I love it because its rock with some blues influences. This was the music I grew up listening to. I was 14 in 1983 Huey Lewis and The News were a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.
Today in one of the most historic cities in America its premier sporting event was impacted by blasts that have caused death and severe injuries. Boston is an amazing town that is resilient and has a big heart. Let us all pray for those impacted, their families, and the community. Everyone is on edge tonight. Lets keep our heads level and let the people who are investigating this tragedy do their jobs and what happened will be revealed in time. God bless Boston tonight.
Major League Baseball, Opening Day 2013 – America’s pastime gets back in action today as MLB teams begin the new season. I am cheering for the Braves in honor of my grandfather and the Detroit Tigers because they seem to have a cool team. Its time for bats and balls, hot dogs and Cracker Jack.
What is your favorite thing to snack on when watching TV, a movie or a big game?
Way to go Chattanooga Lady Mocs! They beat the UT Lady Vols for the first time since 1973. Great win tonight in Chattanooga!
I would hate to be a “major college” football coach where their livelihood is dependent on the skills of young adults and the fan base is ready with pitchforks and torches to run coach out of town if they don’t go to a bowl game each year. Maybe I am a little naive but this is still a game and the rise and fall of who we are shouldn’t rest on the results. Sorry if anyone is offended. Just sayin’.
To borrow a little from “The Hunger Games” in the spirit of today’s Kentucky Derby for those placing bets “May the odds be ever in your favor”. At least the losers of this race won’t be dead at the end.
