I am selfish…at times. Every person has had moments of being self-involved and self-centered We all have things happening in our lives that cause us to circle our wagons and focus on us and us alone and that is OK. We are all human beings people and we aren’t perfect.
The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. said Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.
Thinking of others and being considerate are very good virtues to have. Giving aid to those in need is a noble thing to do. Does this mean we have to say yes to every request…that answer is no. For me saying no is hard but sometimes to do what I need to do it’s necessary.
Having someone depend on you and sharing your life can help with that. Whether it be a spouse, partner or pet you realize how much someone relies on you and there is no time to be selfish. However you can find time for yourself to care for you body and soul.
Jane Austen once said, Selfishness must always be forgiven you know, because there is no hope of a cure.
