Time Is Flying, Maybe It Should Crawl
StandardIt’s hard to believe its early September. Time is indeed flying and before you know it the holidays will be here. Fall is my favorite season and it will be interesting to see how it goes. Perhaps we should not want time to go so fast that we miss something good. Lets take things day-by-day. Let’s live in the moment, make memories that last. Slow it down a bit.
The Church Is At It’s Best
StandardThe church is at its best when it has order to it seasonally. For many its a liturgical calendar that gives order to worship and what is taught from the pulpit. Celebrating the life of Christ as He was born and as He died is spiritually meaningful. The times in between are when Believers are called upon to be faithful and to emulate Him by showing love, peace, grace, mercy to all and to seek repentance and forgiveness.
Happy First Day of Spring!
May we all begin the warm up from the very cold winter. It’s going to be nice here in the Chattanooga area. I hope its great wherever you are.
Autumn 2013 Begins on Sunday!
Fall unofficially begins after Labor Day but comes in for real this year on Sunday, September 22. The change in weather and colors are a welcome sign. When seasons change you feel that time is moving on.
This is part of the theme of a Sunday school class I am teaching tomorrow. Its about change and transition in life.
THE BYRDS – 1965 – “Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)” (by BILL5th)
Groundhog Day, A Seasonal Classic – This movie is about deja vu all over again in the shadow of Punxsutawney Phil at the Groundhog Day celebration. Bill Murray, Andie Mac Dowell and Chris Elliott are all great in this classic flick. We are watching it on good ole VHS.
Happy Labor Day, Farewell To Summer
StandardIts one of those crossroads sort of days. We usher in Fall 2012 while sending Summer 2012 into history. Labor Day meant the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and looking at going back to school the next day.
This past Summer featured Riverbend Festival, a wedding, my dad’s 65th birthday, movies and more. The weather at times made it too hot to be outdoors.
For those who are working this day is a welcome rest but for me it seems like another day having not worked since March. I am ready to go back to work. My endless Summer is ready to come to a close.
The fall will be full of football games, cool days and nights, sweaters and hot drinks. Natures colors change into hues of browns, oranges, yellows and gold. Halloween is the prime holiday and that means tricks and treats. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Before you know it you will see Thanksgiving and the ringing of Christmas sleigh bells.
Life is about transition, seasons and change. Its going to be fun though.
Summer Is Coming Tonight – The season officially begins at 7:09 PM this evening. It has felt like summer for a couple of weeks now. The weather has been hot and humid. Unofficially Summer starts on Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy the season everyone.
Summer 2012, Enjoy It!
StandardMemorial day is the unofficial start of Summer. Labor day is the unofficial end of Summer. There are 98 days til Labor Day. School kids go back before Labor Day so there are fewer days than that. Make every moment count. Enjoy the season and be safe.
