Lord, keep us from speaking of love while hoarding the gifts you have given us. Make us full of discontent as long as there are brothers and sisters living and dying in hunger. Amen.
It seems in these days a lot of people are living on a prayer. Many are hoping to make it day-to-day. There’s a constant struggle to get by. Our world is in the same fight. Perhaps we all are living on a prayer.
Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer
God, we thank you for the blessings of the day that is past, and humbly ask for your protection through the coming night.
God of creation and love be with those who suffer or have moments of doubt about their role in the world. Thank you for being ever present in the lives of those who believe in you as well as those who don’t believe in you. May everyone know your love, grace and peace is open to everyone, everywhere, no matter what. To those who are persecuted in your name by those who seek to do harm I ask that you would heal the wounds of the persecuted and to forgive the trespasses of your children who need your love in a profound way. To those who face health situations may you give them healing and comfort, even to those who deny you. In the name of your son who taught us to live and love and forgive….Amen
Don’t just pray and run. Be involved in the process of what you are praying for. Don’t just pray for someone when they might need more, be ready to help.
When I am asked to pray at family gatherings I have a horrible habit of not asking for blessings on the meal but focus on everything else surrounding the event. I need to work on that.
Say a prayer for peace, justice and love. We need it, now more than ever.
God, give us peace and teach us again to fear not. May we live in community with our neighbours and love one another.
