Doctor Who Returns!
This week belongs to the geeks and nerds. New Doctor Who is upon us. Fangirl all you like. Saturday will be epic!
I will be posting a lot of Doctor Who stuff. This is going to be a fun week.
I’m the Doctor. I’ve lived for over 2,000 years, I’ve made many mistakes. It’s about time I did something about that.
“The Doctor” From “Doctor Who”
The thing about correcting mistakes is that it can be a good thing for some and a bad thing for others. This is going to be a great series for Doctor Who.
The BBC has today confirmed the much-anticipated eighth series of the hit drama Doctor Who will land on BBC America Saturday, August 23rd at 8/7c.
The feature length premiere episode entitled “Deep Breath” will see Peter Capaldi take on one of TV’s most iconic roles as the Twelfth Doctor, alongside Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara.
An exclusive 15 second teaser showing a first-look glimpse of the new Doctor and Clara aired this evening on BBC America confirming the date, and can be seen here.
See the teaser here if you’re outside of the US!
Remember When…
StandardDavid Tennant was “The Doctor”?….Yeah I do too. I miss him but I am excited about Peter Capaldi, he’s going to be hardcore and a throwback to the classic era. Doctor Who has a bright future.
The Doctor has a new look as Peter Capaldi’s era officially begins.
Hello Doctor, you look like a man of all space and time.
Steven Moffat….Sherlock and Doctor Who
StandardSteven Moffat has a great grasp on how to produce and write for Sherlock…he gets it. It helps that there is a literary source code to draw from and it takes place in present day.
When it comes to running the show for Doctor Who it seems creatively he isn’t focused and has a problem with linking the past with the present or so it seems. I think if he referred to classic Who as the source code he would create some amazing stories.
I hope Peter Capaldi can help him creatively and help re-focus the show for the future.
Thoughts on The New Doctor, Peter Capaldi
StandardThe first image of Peter Capaldi on his first full day of filming was released by the BBC today. It got me to thinking how will younger Whovians relate to a older man.
Chris, David and Matt both skewed a much younger demographic whereas Peter is a throwback to the classic Who actors such as William Hartnell and John Pertwee. The breadth of work that Peter has done has gifted him with experience that will only give a new dimension to the part. Peter has been waiting all his life to be The Doctor and that waiting might be a good thing for all the fans. I hope this will give the franchise a fresh creative spark.
A major question is the chemistry of Peter and Jenna Coleman. How will they get along and will we see some chemistry developing like Jenna ad Matt did.
It will be interesting to see if younger fans will find Capaldi captivating enough to keep them interested. At the “cons” will we see the 12th Doctor cosplayed, will we see t-shirts bearing his likeness. Only time will tell but I am glad to see the show “growing up” a bit.
