Hiwassee College gives former foster youths a place to call home | The Tennessean | tennessean.com
LinkThis is a great article on my alma mater Hiwassee College and how it is helping former foster children find a place to call home and to get an education. Hiwassee is setting an example of what it means to help the least of these. I am proud to be a Hiwassee Tiger!

The steeple of Buckner Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN. One of my favorite places in the world.
The Bell Tower on the campus of Hiwassee College.
This bell was used to signal the transition of classes on campus for years. Its an iconic symbol now of the college. This bell has lots of history behind it. A great spot on campus.
Hiwassee College Homecoming 2013
This weekend I will be away celebrating Homecoming at Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. I am a member of the class of 1992 and I have fond memories of this place that shaped me into the person I am today. God blessed me with the opportunity to attend there to learn about the lessons of faith, life and friendship. It is a great place of learning for students of all ages. This weekend will be a time to renew and reconnect with some great people.
The Monroe County, Tennessee Courthouse.
In most small towns the county courthouse is in the middle of downtown. This courthouse located in Madisonville, TN is no exception. Its the hub of governmental activity in the county. My fellow blogger thecrimsonarcher knows this building well as its in her hometown.
Hiwassee College Work Day – I am a member of the Alumni Board of Governors at my alma mater. For 10 years I have been involved with this group as a way to give back to the college. Each Summer we do a work day to help out with maintenance on campus. The college is not a wealthy place and it relies upon tuition, alumni, donors and other revenue to keep things going. Our work on Saturday was a way to help the college out and provide gifts of service. I am grateful to God for my time at Hiwassee (and the community of Madisonville, TN) in the early 90’s and for the privilege to help them when needed.
