A Call For Help

No person is an island. We live in communities where there are people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

It’s important to reach out to those who might be suffering in one way or another. We have all been through stuff that has made us better so its important to share those experiences with others when they need a helping hand. When someone calls for help be open to answering their plea.

Mercy and kindness are awesome things but don’t stretch yourself too thin, you can’t please and help everyone. It’s important to do our part for one another. Karma in one tradition or another is real and the more good you put out there the more it will be returned.

The best way to have a good neighbor is to be a good neighbor.

Discrimination, How Can This Be?

There are a lot of laws being considered in this country that makes discrimination of gay and lesbian people a legal thing. In my mind discrimination of any form is un-American and to take it a step further un-Christian. If this country is to be one where life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is to be fully realized then it can’t be one where some folks cannot realize the full opportunities and promise the United States provides. Those who are seeking to pass laws like we have seen in Arizona in my mind are very misguided and they don’t reflect the true values this country wants to espouse.

Lets not roll this country back to an earlier time where discrimination was an accepted part of society. The Jim Crow era of this country was evil and heinous. African Americans played by a set of rules that made life very hard for them, especially in the south. I can’t help but see that history is repeating, it’s truly sad.

It’s a shame that in the 21st century we seem to be regressing in a lot of things and not progressing as a people. Lets be a country that says that we are indeed created equal with the rights and privileges that will allow us to live free in a genuine way.

Ask For help

Never be afraid to ask for help. No matter what crisis you are experiencing don’t allow yourself to suffer. There are people in your area to help. Life is too short and your problems can be overcome with the assistance of good people and some work. Clergy, counselors, coaches and other professionals would love to see you through to a brighter, better life.

Don’t Fret About The Future

My friends there’s always hope and opportunity to get past the cares of your life. You might have problems now but the future doesn’t have to be murky and uncertain. Life has a way of course correcting and providing you opportunities. Hang in there. Uncertain times offer lessons in endurance and knowledge for the road ahead. Live one day at a time.

Feminism, My View

Without going into a lot of details I think feminism is a good thing. Women should be empowered to be who they want to be. If a woman wants to be a stay at home mom or a high powered executive they should be afforded that choice for their lives. It should also make them equal in the eyes of the law to earn equal wages for equal work. In some ways its about respect for each other. Its my hope that women will someday have the glass ceiling shattered so they might be able to achieve and realize their dreams and the calling that God has given them. In short feminism needs to work in real terms that will give equality to those who are disenfranchised. Women have come too far to turn back the clock. Its about choices and women need the right to chose what’s best for them in every situation.

To Everyone Going Through Stuff

Some folks I know in various places are going through some tough stuff right now. Its hard to deal with life in general when you have things that hold you back or weigh you down. My friends know you are not alone and you have support. Taking care of yourself is a priority. Don’t feel guilty for saying no when you have to. Enjoy life as much as you can. Don’t be selfish when it comes to love and remember to return the favor. God doesn’t want his creation to suffer in such a way. Eliminate the drama and issues that keep you from being happy and sane.
