Thinking Of Others

It’s always good to be thinking of others. Having concern for the welfare of family, friends and strangers is a great thing. I work hard at that but there are times when I get a little self centered, who isn’t. We are all connected in some way because we are all people, human beings, strangers waiting to become friends. People who need people are the luckiest people in the world as Barbara Streisand once sang.

May I Have Your Attention Please

To my wonderful newbies, welcome! On occasion you will see some spiritual/religious things come from this blog. Don’t get freaked out, I am not a Bible thumper. I do go to church, on occasion I drink and sometimes curse words slip from my mouth from pure frustration. Yes I am human and Jesus is alright by me. I also dig folks from other religions and think they are doing right by the traditions and customs the hold dear to.

Mistakes, They Will Be Made

Mistakes are something everyone makes. Its a part of life that is unavoidable. No one is perfect so just accept it. There is only so long you can hold on to the feeling you disappointed someone. Eventually you have to release yourself of the guilt. I am always hard on myself when I make a mistake so I understand how some feel. Perhaps is everyone looks in the mirror and reminds themselves they are human then things would be better.

Athletes In The Headlines

I am seeing a lot of athletes in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Granted these folks are human and make mistakes but some of their actions are puzzling and sad. The fans I am sad for are kids who look up to athletes as their heroes.

Pro athletes are people like any of us, however they are still held to a higher standard because of their role in society. These folks are role models, whether they want to assume that title or not. I have had athletes I have looked up to when I was a boy but now I see something different.

Athletes are humans and we should give them some grace but they need to be responsible and mature people too. Friends each of us has a responsibility to be a role model for those in our lives who need someone in their lives for guidance and inspiration.

When God’s People Disappoint

I hope that I am the person of faith that can help others understand that God is cool. I am very sorry for the times people have seen God misrepresented by some of his children. We wonder why the church doesn’t have a good reputation. Some people have been put off by some of God’s children. It’s important for believers to ask forgiveness when we have not been the best we can be. God wants us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. I believe in being inclusive and I think God is there for people who believe in him and for those who don’t. Yes, I think Atheists are loved by God too. Friends, God is crazy for you and each of you is special, don’t let anyone tell you different.

We need to live in the real world where there are people of all races, colors, genders and orientation who love each other as neighbors, friends and a human family.
