All new Foursquare

My friend Chante Newcomb has a great article on changes happening with Foursquare with links to a Mashable article.

I use this great social location platform on my phone. Foursquare has a lot to offer businesses and individuals alike. You can share by “checking in” when you visit a shop, a restaurant or other location. For business you can offer specials who check-in to drive people to your location. Its a win-win situation for both the user and businesses. What do you think?

Happy Foursquare Day – Chattanooga – #4sqCHA

Users on Foursquare can check in anywhere today in order to earn the Foursquare Day 2012 badge.

Foursquare Day was coined by Nate Bonilla-Warford, an optometrist from Tampa, Florida on March 12, 2010. The idea of Foursquare Day came to Bonilla-Warford after thinking about a simple calculation, 4^2 = 16. Since 4 squared equals 16, Bonilla-Warford came up with the idea to check-in to Foursquare on the 4th month and 16th day of the year, hence April 16.

Today at 11:30 the Social Media Club of Chattanooga will gather at Mindy B’s Deli in downtown Chattanooga to observe this event. I will post pix and maybe some video later.
