Country and Rap

I enjoy country music. I think some rap is good. But I don’t think the two should be mixed together. This makes country look desperate and it seems like they are trying too hard. Rap from the 1980’s and 1990’s I like when it was fun. Whoever thought country and rap together was a good idea should be beaten with a wet noodle.

George Jones, Dead at Age 81 – I am not a huge fan of his but he was a country music icon. He was also a troubled soul who had issues he dealt with throughout his life and career. Jones was a hall-of-famer and cast member of the Grand Ole Opry. He was once married to Tammy Wynette who passed away in 1998. The couple was a country music power couple (think Tim McGraw and Faith Hill or Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert today). Rest in peace “Possum”. Thank you for the music and memories.

RIP Mindy McCready

Mindy McCready tragically committed suicide yesterday. She left behind two kids, her family and a saddened country music community. McCready recorded 4 albums and had a good number of hit records. However her life was way more complicated than that. She had demons she couldn’t deal with. Her personal life was filled with personal and legal problems.

I wasn’t a big fan of hers but I did enjoy her work. Like many it’s sad to hear of her passing. Its a shame she felt like this was her only solution. She had a complicated life that couldn’t be overcome. There are lots of people who have the same issues and problems McCready was dealing with. I feel for those folks who are trying to cope day to day. Life can be mean so we need one another to get through. Mindy you will be missed.
