Communion And Blood

Standard

I assisted in communion this morning at church. This is one of my favorite things to do in worship. I served the wine/grape juice to our congregation. That wine/juice is symbolic of the blood of Christ which was shed for the sins of humanity. As a person who works in a blood bank it was appropriate for me because I help people share their blood so others might live a longer life. This is a great reminder that blood donors are important….whether it be Jesus or his children.

When God’s People Disappoint

Standard

I hope that I am the person of faith that can help others understand that God is cool. I am very sorry for the times people have seen God misrepresented by some of his children. We wonder why the church doesn’t have a good reputation. Some people have been put off by some of God’s children. It’s important for believers to ask forgiveness when we have not been the best we can be. God wants us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. I believe in being inclusive and I think God is there for people who believe in him and for those who don’t. Yes, I think Atheists are loved by God too. Friends, God is crazy for you and each of you is special, don’t let anyone tell you different.

When Faith Isn’t Enough

Standard

Faith is a personal thing. God is with everyone all the time. Sometimes it takes time away to see that. I think there is a good amount of crap and disingenuous stuff people put out and they don’t even know it. Faith is important but how one is treated in a community of believers is important. Hospitality in a house of worship is vital. Love is key.

So many people say canned things because they haven’t thought about what they are saying. I work hard to be a different believer that doesn’t offer any BS. I hope I never make anyone feel uncomfortable or preached at. Hang in there and when ready have faith.

Faith

Standard

If someone tells you that your faith isn’t strong enough because it doesn’t fit into their view of what faith should be then tell them you are working out your relationship with God/Higher Power in a way that makes sense to you. Each person is to work out their relationship with fear and trembling.

Seeing God

Standard

People fail to see God when His people aren’t welcoming and inclusive. All they seem to see is a group of people who like the status quo and aren’t interested in having new people in the mix. I think churches and civilizations have learned the hard way when you fail to share the love of God in a way that makes them feel needed and wanted. Hospitality is important my friends.

Pentecost

Standard

Pentecost is the birthday of the Christian church but its also a call to each of us to experience life anew as we experience in our life in Christ. It’s also a call for renewal and joining in community to serve everyone no matter who they are and where they are in life. It means loving your neighbor and loving God with a ever burning fire. To me its reaching out to love people on the edge of society and to seek inclusion of ALL of God’s creation.
