A Prayer For Everyone, Believer and Non-Believer

God of creation and love be with those who suffer or have moments of doubt about their role in the world. Thank you for being ever present in the lives of those who believe in you as well as those who don’t believe in you. May everyone know your love, grace and peace is open to everyone, everywhere, no matter what. To those who are persecuted in your name by those who seek to do harm I ask that you would heal the wounds of the persecuted and to forgive the trespasses of your children who need your love in a profound way. To those who face health situations may you give them healing and comfort, even to those who deny you. In the name of your son who taught us to live and love and forgive….Amen

The Irony of Lent and Valentine’s Day

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday which is the beginning of the Lenten season for many in the Christian faith. It is a time when people will give up something to focus on their lives in Christ. One popular thing to give up is Chocolate. It isn’t easy to do this but some do it. However with Valentine’s Day coming up on Thursday giving that special someone a box of chocolates is going to be troubling. Of course you could eat the chocolate on Sunday but as we all know the waiting is the hardest part.

United Methodists rank highest in favorability among five different faith groups in a new survey conducted by the Southern Baptist Convention’s research arm. A 2008 Gallup poll that showed United Methodists have the highest positive ratings of religious and spiritual groups in the United States.
