Cooking Shows

Standard

Cooking shows on Saturday have been a part of my weekends for years. I grew up on The Frugal Gourmet and it continues on to other shows on PBS and Food Network now. Without these cooking shows it just isn’t Saturday for me.

So far today we have seen

America’s Test Kitchen on PBS

Cooks Country

The Kitchen on Food Network

Trisha’s Southern Kitchen

Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals on CBS

I like the instructional and informational quality of these shows. We also watch Mexico: One Plate At A Time, Pioneer Woman and sometimes Martha Stewart. There are some great tips I have picked up over the years thanks to these shows. Of course we must giver homage to Julia Child who developed the genre of cooking on TV.

TV Life or Death

Standard

Twitter was a flutter with the news of television shows fate. It was a good day for some shows while others are no longer with us. Disappointment and relief were felt by cast and crew along with fans today.

Shows I Like Coming Back

  • Castle
  • Once Upon A Time
  • Suburatory
  • The Middle

Shows I Like Going Away

  • Body of Proof
  • CSI: New York
  • Happy Endings
  • Go On

Television programming is a serious business. We live and die by our favorite programs. Now we must see what comes up next.

If you’re a fan of the television show “Downton Abbey,” you are most likely a fanatic of Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, the imperious matriarch of a British aristocratic family – and the source of the most memorable lines in the weekly PBS series.

Before tonight’s season finale tune into 60 Minutes on CBS at 7:00 PM to see the full interview with Dame Maggie Smith.
