Tonight Hollywood’s best and brightest stars will gather to give and receive the most coveted award in American cinema. I am making a few predictions here on what I have gathered from folks in the media and experts, not because I have actually seen any of the films, because I haven’t. Some picks are just because I like the people involved. I will be picking my favorite seven categories.

Brave: The Movie of the Afternoon. This film is a work of art and it sure warms the heart.
Today we saw the Disney/Pixar movie “Brave”. I must say its a beautiful movie that lives up to tradition set forth by “Up” and “Finding Nemo”. Tradition is also a theme of this movie that is set in a Scottish kingdom a long time ago.
Merida, the heroine of this movie is seeking to find her own way in the world despite the tradition of being betrothed to the first born of a neighboring clan. The movie has some contemporary as well as classic themes of how the rules for a girl are different it seems. Through a spell from a witch Merida wants to change her mother so she can change her mind about having to uphold the tradition of marriage. Sometimes it take a brave person to change tradition and to make a life for themselves.
Its a great role and example for women both young and old. The movie is heart warming, funny and has a great cast featuring Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Craig Ferguson, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane and John Ratzenberger. It is a must see for everyone. The big screen is the way to go here, 3D is not really necessary for it though.
At the Majestic 12 Theater in downtown Chattanooga to see Disney/Pixar’s “Brave”.
