The Andy Griffith Show, Timeless!

This show remains one of the best comedies in TV history. Andy Griffith, Ronnie Howard (yes that Ron Howard), Don Knotts and Frances Bavier told some great stories that showed that small town life was full of kindness, intelligence, simplicity and decency. Andy was a small town sheriff who was a single dad living with his aunt. That is a pretty progressive situation for the 1960’s. He was a kind man who made everyone in his life feel important.

The show has a popularity that has spanned generations. I would like to think that the Mayberry influence still resonates with people who want to slow life down a little bit, go to the fishing hole and perhaps spend more time with those we love.

In my mind Andy Taylor of The Andy Griffith Show is the uncle of Leroy Jethro Gibbs of NCIS. They are two fair minded men who pursued justice, fairness and protected the people they loved…just in slightly different approaches.

Who knew? I like this….Andy Griffith, Ron Howard and Jim Nabors were kings of situation comedy in the day. They portrayed small town life in “The Andy Griffith Show”. It also says you don’t have to be a red state to have family values.

An Observation

After watching “The Andy Griffith” show tonight I am convinced that Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory is Don Knotts 2.0. Its amazing how much they are alike in their talent and expressions.

Watching the pilot episode of “The Andy Griffith Show”. This show is full of amazing talent including Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, Frances Bavier and a very young Ron Howard. The show won two best comedy Emmy’s during its run. This show never gets old.
