When you hear music from your teen and young adult years used in commercials I guess that means you are old. The familiar tunes of the 80’s and very early 90’s take me back to a time when I had fewer cares. Now I am older and more nostalgic. To those in their 20’s get ready, you are coming up sooner than you think.
This was my jam back in the day! I heard the song on a TV show tonight. Some days I miss the 1980’s.

1988 was a politically active year with indictments handed down in the Iran-Contra affair, a presidential election in which George HW Bush beats out Michael Dukakis, and the election of Sonny Bono as the new mayor of Palm Springs. To escape the politics and the natural and manmade disasters, people flocked to the movies to see some great cinema.
(I graduated from high school in 1988 and my 25 year reunion is coming up, it’s hard to believe that. I am just being nostalgic)
Huey Lewis and The News put out a record (as we called them back in the day) called Sports. It was their third album and the one that made them global superstars. It was loaded with hits. “Heart and Soul”, “The Heart of Rock and Roll”, “I Want A New Drug”, “If This Is It” are all awesome songs that have stood the test of time.
It was a Billboard number one record and went platinum 7 times. I love it because its rock with some blues influences. This was the music I grew up listening to. I was 14 in 1983 Huey Lewis and The News were a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.
THE SECRET OF MY SUCCESS – A movie genuinely about the 80’s and the desire to get ahead even when you are trying to just get a job. It stars one of my favorite actors Michael J. Fox along with Helen Slater. This movie has the fashion and the flair of the decade.
Hey kids this is how we jammed in the 80’s. Take that iPod!

Listening to the 80’s music channel on my cable providers Music Choice service. I feel like a teenager again and yes I am that old.
1982 which was a totally awesome year for me was 30 years ago. I am truly sad because of that fact. Where has time gone? I feel kind of ancient. At times I long for those days but I really love what I have now.
