Fifty years ago tonight – Walter Cronkite took to the airwaves as the anchor of the CBS Evening News. This veteran newsman was named America’s most trusted man in a opinion poll. He covered historic events including the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Cronkite passed away in July of 2009.
